The History of PILSENWERST (part 3)
Well i thought i might start a new page for the new year as i expect this year(2001) to be quite a busy year at pilsenwerst....
Well that's what i thought but.... Jan proved to be a lot slower than planned two train set's arrived but still all the new locos and sets are awaiting decoder installation but the manufactures have yet to deliver the new stock.. most of the signals arrived and have been placed in position but have not been commissioned yet the main focus of work has been on the platforms which are nearing completion and the little pep's have started using them :) some other work has started on the housing estate. The next phase of block detectors will be arriving in early Feb. (well that's what sunningwell command control say but still no word on the next batch of loco decoders) as always the latest pictures are here
Well its now March and time for an update :-). There has been a great deal of activity over the last month or so :-) . Ted of Sunningwell Command Control rang me to say the block detection stuff had arrived but there was a postal strike in Oxford so the trip was made down to Ted's on a rainy Monday evening with Kev ( he drove me down) Thanks Kev :-), while I was there i also purchased my first Dac 10 another accessory decoder ( 8 outputs and full loconet reporting) made in the UK by Laurence Barker. The block detection is now complete on the main line and has been linked up to the signals on the ctc board and some of the real signals are operated by the Dac 10 the signaling manager is very happy to get things on a safer footing and so are the passengers to :). Now the block detection is in place the first timetable (program) for the automatic running of a commuter train i have included the timetable and explanation in the winlok area. The builders have been hard at work and have finished a few more homes , the church and the main building of the factory also the pub ( well they have to have some leisure time). The forestry commission have planted a few trees. The pictures as always are here
OK so i have been lazy and not updated the page (yes its August 2001) but also there has been some activity but mainly on the control front yes i received my first 2 rx4's from those nice people at sunningwell command control... so we now have the transponding working :)))) also i have got myself a new digital cam so i will now be posting very soon posting a photo blow by blow decoder install that i hope to do as soon as i get my kitchen back from the plumbers ( yes i left it there by mistake :( ) ... actually having a new boiler installed
Pilsenwerst date 01/10/01 and time for another update (so much for an update every month). The previous months have been busy sorting out the commuter train timetables so not much to show in the photo stakes well that was until Ted of sunningwell command control came up to me to help him sort his web page out (www.scc4dcc.co.uk) it only taken him a year i know its that long as I'm his isp :) any way he came up on the Wednesday and i went to see him the following Sunday (thanks to Tony Haddon) ( umm something tell me we see far too much of each other and normally it ends up with my wallet feeling empty) and this time was no exception i came away with 3 dac-10's(new design) which i like very much well done Laurence Barker of cml electronics, and a couple of dz121's. 2 of the dac-10's were pressed into service controlling the 5 aspect station signals and the other dac-10 to finish off the rest on the main line signals and also to control some of the building lighting that has been installed in the church, pub, some homes and the old factory, there have also been lights installed on the platforms, and in the station building along with illuminated clocks on the platforms (although as yet not wired up). More trees have been planted by the road to the old factory as have street lights ( also not wired up yet) the reason i keep saying old factory is the fact another factory has just been built proving even more employment for the little peps :) also they are getting braver as some have taken to cycling to work :) also the people up at the castle have erected a monument on the side of the mountain. The mayor is now very happy with the arrival of the pilsenwerst fire brigade and the little peps are happy too. I noticed the other day that news of pilsenwerst must be spreading as there are some campers down by the river enjoying the view and the trains no doubt :) and here's the link to the pictures
Ok so its been a year sionce the last update ( been busy doing things yes the pub doesnt have a model railway although im working on it)also I donated a kidney to my sister which rather took priority(yes we are both doing fine :)) ) and also buying nccnet who hosts this site :) so as you can seen it was a busy year just not on the railway, hopefuly there will be much more railway building during 2003. Well heres the update .... the signaling manager has had a re-think and has suggested that the railway should trial a new system this has been arranged with CML Electronics and he (the signal manager has 2 of the dsc8 signal controlers on test) so far all seems to be running fine the nice thing about them is that the controller does all the signaling logic for its self thus not requiring a computer not content with that hes also had the track gangs out changing all the blocks around to make plisenwurst an even safer railwayand for a secret project but hes not letting on what as yet. A few more locos have been aquired but have not yet had their safety checks(decoders fitted). The town council have had workmen busy installing street lighting to make it safe for the little peeps also the council is concerned about the speed some of the peeps are doing in there cars and have ordered some speed camera's to try and make the roads safer these are due to be installed mid 2003. There have been more peeps moving into the area and there is now a need for more homes, planing permission has been granted and work will be started soon, also planning permission for a beer garden selling the world famous Zthek beer has been sort the council have appoved this and hopes that it will be open in time for the summer. There are now a couple of bus/coach companies who have seen up in the area and i have even seen some taxis. The council have also invested in some new emergency vans with flashing lights :) From Zthek who i can totaly recomend the service was fantastic and the products are simply fantasic So as an overview the majority of work has been on getting more detail in to pilsenwurst . A few pictures here and I promise not to leave it so long before the next update.
